The Lass Who Knits | Episode 16 | Giveaway Winner Announced!

Hello & welcome to Episode 16 of The Lass Who Knits!  This week I have lots to share, including announcing the winner of my first giveaway (woohoo!) and some chat about a future make-a-long (eesh it's exciting isn't it!).

I also have a finished object to share along with some yarny goodness I picked up during a trip to Edinburgh and of course, I give an update about the projects I've been working on over the past couple of weeks.  So let's get cracking!

Finished Object
I finished my Roadside Beanie, this year's hat design inspired by Shetland Wool Week's 2019 patron Oliver Henry. The pattern shows the hat knitted in a range of different yarns and colourways which is very helpful if, like me, you often get lost in the sea of colour possibilities when it comes to colourwork!

A free copy of the pattern can  currently be downloaded at the Shetland Wool Week's website along with more information about the event itself: www.shetlandwoolweek.com

I used the 2 ply jumper weight yarn kit I purchased from the Jamieson's and Smith booth when I attended EYF earlier this year and used the following shades (Colourway 2... I know, I know, I'm  so predicatable!):
Shade 5
Shade 4
Shade 78mix
Shade 202
Shade 203
Shade 1A
Shade 2

Works in Progress
Steady work is being made on my Surprise Party Shawl by Helen Stewart and the pattern reliably informs me I have completed  60%.  It's good to know I'm on track for finishing this in time for the #neckblanketkal which runs until September hosted by Grianaig Creations & FibrePunk!  Just in time to wear to Perth Festival of Yarn 2019 too!

I'm really pleased with how my different yarn choices are complimenting each other. For the main colour I'm using Confetti Cake by La Bien Aimee on the 100% merino base and Oh Snap by Hedgehog Fibres on the sock yarn base.

The contrast colours are a delightful set of mini's I received from my recent Fibreshare Partner Purl and Knit who is a wonderful indie-dyer based in Germany.

Picking up a skein of Easy Knits Gobstoppers and new needles have magically fuelled the return of my sock knitting mojo!  I'm now at the point of deciding which heel to put in...hmmm...choices, choices!

The Peppermint Treat colourway is GORGEOUS and a dream to knit with whilst I try out my new Hiya Hiya 9inch circulars.

New Stuff
I had the opportunity to visit Kathy's Knits when I was in Edinburgh recently and picked up a few yarny treasures during my trip including some Langsoond yarn from Donna Smith  which I've spent many a time "oohing" and "aahing" over the interwebs.  Such a surprise purchase and such a delight!

Other Stuff
I announced the winner of my recent giveaway and can't wait to send the prize to its recipient (was it you?) and due to the interest in participating in a make-a-long to get those troublesome lingering WIPs off the needles, a MAL is in the making!

Until next time, bye bye!
